RETIRED MEMBER of the Silkin Million Dollar Club

RETIRED MEMBER of the Silkin Million Dollar Club

As the owner of Methven Family Vineyards in Dayton, OR, Dr. Methven was interviewed about his experience as a millionaire private practice owner and what it has meant for his career as a dentist to have a Silkin Consultant on speed

Dr. Allen Methven started out as a dentist and became a Silkin success story. He and his wife Jill are members of the Silkin Million Dollar Club, after buying and selling 18 private practices and then retiring to Dayton, OR.There, they built an Italian Villa on what was to become Methven Family Vineyards, where they now make & sell award-winning wines.

Dr.Methven will be the first to tell you that Silkin was the key to his successful private practice empire-building. Using our distinctive training program, he built a hotshot practice manager team with which to attract quality associates.

Selling each of his eighteen practices, one after the other, to those associates proved easy to do with the Silkin Transition Readiness Assessment. But behind it all was TRAINING.

Silkin: Hello Dr. Methven! Thanks for joining us for this interview. We are hoping you can give new and current Silkin clients a taste of what awaits them (no pun intended!)

Dr. Methven: Sure, I’d love to.

Silkin: So, your career has been filled with highlights. 18 practices bought & sold, all culminating in a dream retirement. Was it always your vision to build a winery?

Dr. Methven: Actually, no. I started out with a practice in Seattle, then later Michigan, Florida and finally Oregon. It wasn’t until I arrived in wine country and bought the property that the idea of a vineyard came to life. Seeing the big beautiful land down here, it just made sense.

Silkin: Wow, you had practices in four states before you retired?

Dr. Methven: That’s right. In fact, I’m calling you from our second home in Hawaii right now. But actually, I consider myself only semi-retired.

Silkin: Incredible! What’s next for you?

Dr. Methven: I just did some CE on Invisalign. That’s the next game. My advice for new and upcoming Silkin clients is – you’ve always got to have a new game.

Silkin: Too right. Okay, so tell us the secret – how did you do it?

Dr. Methven: I trained my office manager using Silkin workshops & courses. I then worked with that same OM to build eight more offices.

DAVE MCKEVITT DR. METHVEN’S SILKIN CONSULTANT

FEATURE: DR. ALLEN METHVEN

Silkin: What do you feel you got out of working with Silkin on a personal level?

Dr. Methven: The ability to communicate better with patients. And staff too; really just increasing my ability to communicate, period.

Silkin: That’s great. So, what advice would you give to a new Silkin client – one who is just starting their relationship with their own consultant?

Dr. Methven: Learn everything Silkin teaches you. Don’t ever delegate the learning part. That way you’re never at the effect of what your employees do. For me, the biggest thing Silkin helped with was making my staff accountable to their jobs – so handling staff came off of my plate.

Silkin: Well, looks like you’ve done a great job with what you learned! Thanks so much for joining us and congrats.
